Location: [Enschede / hybrid / onsite]
Company: QuiX Quantum

At QuiX Quantum, we are building the world’s first universal photonic quantum computer. Our team of scientists and engineers works at the forefront of quantum technology, combining cutting-edge research with real-world engineering to turn quantum computing into a scalable, functional system.

We are now looking for a Quantum Measurement and Instrumentation Software Developer to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain the software that enables precise measurements, characterization routines, and data analysis for the quantum systems we build. Your work will play a critical role in the calibration, operation, and advancement of our quantum computing platform.

What You’ll Do

As a software engineer within our quantum hardware team, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python code and libraries for:

    • Controlling and monitoring laboratory instruments

    • Performing test and characterization measurements

    • Experimental data collection, storage, analysis, and visualization

  • Support the design of experiments by contributing from a software and data-analysis perspective

  • Participate in the development of software used for the calibration and operation of our quantum computer

  • Collaborate closely in a multidisciplinary environment, working alongside experimental physicists and electrical engineers

  • Author and maintain internal documentation and automated tests to ensure reliability, usability, and long-term maintainability of the software you develop

Minimum Qualifications (Must-Have)
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience in a technical, scientific, or engineering environment

  • Deep proficiency in Python, with the ability to write clean, reusable, well-documented, and object-oriented code

  • Strong working knowledge of core scientific Python libraries for data manipulation and analysis

  • Experience using Git for collaborative development and practical experience with software testing frameworks

  • Proven ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team, working effectively with experimental physicists and electrical engineers

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
  • An advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with an experimental focus

  • Experience developing and maintaining software interfaces for laboratory instruments, using common protocols such as VISA, RS-232, or similar

  • Familiarity with integrated photonics or quantum computing

  • Experience developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for instrument control and monitoring (e.g., Qt, Dash, or similar frameworks)

Why Join QuiX Quantum?
  • The technology we design, assemble, test, and scale operates at the leading edge of quantum computer engineering

  • We work on challenging, high-impact problems, generating novel ideas and driving innovation toward a quantum future

  • Our team is international, diverse, and highly specialized—everyone brings a unique niche and expertise

  • This role offers hands-on access to real quantum computing setups in the laboratory, directly contributing to their evolution toward the world’s first universal quantum system

If you’re excited about writing software that directly interfaces with groundbreaking quantum hardware—and want to help shape the future of computing—we’d love to hear from you.
