Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Photonics Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing experiments for prototype photonic integrated circuits, overseeing laboratory practices and maintenance, supporting and conducting photonic experimental work, procuring precision instrumentation, collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing data analysis, and scaling up integrated photonic systems for full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities:

Experimental Design: Develop and implement experimental designs for prototype photonic integrated circuits.

Laboratory Oversight: Ensure proper laboratory practices, including maintenance of cryogenics, laser systems, free-space optical setups, benchtop integrated photonic systems, and supporting instruments.

Device Characterization: Set up, measure, and characterize photonic devices, including data acquisition and analysis.

Instrumentation Procurement: Manage the procurement of precision instrumentation and standardize laboratory documentation.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design, production, and quantum science members.

Supplier Interface: Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement and quality of materials.

Reporting: Present results and progress at internal meetings.
Qualifications:

Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant applied sciences field, with a focus on experimental photonics or low-temperature physics.

Extensive hands-on experience with cryogenic and optical lab equipment, such as lasers, cryostats, photodiode arrays, and tabletop optical components.

Strong technical expertise in laboratory practices, experimental design, and data presentation.

Methodical and systematic approach to applied science.

Excellent technical writing skills.

Proactive, accurate, and independent working style.

Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
