Optoelectronic Design Engineer
QuiX Quantum is pioneering advancements in photonic quantum computing, a dynamic and rapidly evolving field. Since our founding in 2019, we have achieved world records in quantum photonic processing. As we continue to expand, we're excited to add a Optoelectronic Design Engineer to our team. This flexible, hybrid position requires a minimum of one day in the office each week and offers work locations in Germany or the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Photonic and Optoelectronic Design:
- Design and simulate photonic components using tools like Lumerical.
- Design and simulate electro-optic (EO) modulators and associated photonic devices, including material-specific considerations.
- Model electrical cross-talk and optimize electronic-photonic integration.
- Develop RF back-end-of-line (BEOL) stack designs, focusing on signal integrity and minimal loss.
- Development and Automation:
- Develop photonic-integrated-circuit (PIC) layouts in IPKISS, GdsFactory, or similar tools.
- Support internal process-design-kit (PDK) development and maintenance.
- Automate and script simulations with Python or similar languages.
- Collaborate with team members using Git for code management.
- Integrate photonic designs into system architecture.
Required Qualifications:
- MSc in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or related; PhD preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in photonic and optoelectronic design, preferably in industry (academic research considered)
- Proficiency with EO material design and simulation.
- Experience in Lumerical and PIC layout tools (eg. IPKISS, GdsFactory).
- Strong Python skills and experience with Git.
- Proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Lumerical API, PDK development and quantum integrated photonics.
- Expertise in EO materials, electrical cross-talk modeling, and RF BEOL stack design
- Knowledge of hybrid platforms such as Silicon Nitride and Lithium Niobate, particularly for scalable PIC designs.
