The role
Ore Energy is on a mission to fundamentally expand the amount of energy society can reliably harness and use, helping move civilization toward a more abundant energy future. We are doing this by developing long-duration, utility-scale iron-air batteries that provide safe, low-cost, multi-day energy storage for electricity grids and data centers. Our technology is designed to enable renewable power to become a dependable source of energy at scale, supporting the transition to a cleaner, more resilient and more electrified world.
We are expanding our branding and storytelling capabilities and are looking for a Head of Communications to join our team in Amsterdam. Operating as a strategic and hands-on leader at the intersection of technical engineering, investor relations, and public media, you will play a pivotal role in translating complex breakthrough technology into a clear, punchy, and captivating market narrative.
In this role, you will take full ownership of Ore Energy’s public identity and voice, bridging the gap between our internal R&D breakthroughs and the external world. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders—from our electrochemical engineers in the lab to the CEO office—to define our communication strategy, spearhead media relations, and build our presence across Europe. As the first dedicated communications professional on the team, you will lead by example, building a robust storytelling framework from the ground up. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy discipline leadership role in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment that requires a structured writer and content creator comfortable navigating ambiguity.
This role reports directly to the CEO.
Key responsibilities
Narrative Ownership & Storytelling: Own, develop, and optimize Ore Energy's external narrative, turning deep tech and complex engineering data into stories that excite investors, talent, and industry leaders.
Methodology & Channels Creation: Drive the development of our communications infrastructure, standardizing our public-facing copy, internal update frameworks, and external PR execution methodologies.
Discipline Leadership: Act as the strategic voice for company branding, leading by example to establish a cross-functional culture of effective and clear communication across all departments.
Design & Delivery: Design, develop, and deliver high-impact communication campaigns across multiple channels (including LinkedIn, press releases, media kits, and our public website) to position Ore Energy as the market leader.
Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership: Partner directly with the CEO and leadership team to ghostwrite technical thought-leadership pieces, prepare keynote presentations, and manage speaking engagement pitches.
Media, Supplier & Event Management: Lead our media outreach strategy, building proactive relationships with European tech, energy, and climate journalists while overseeing any niche external vendors or creative contractors. Plan and execute company events, including press conferences, guest tours, and investor meetings, acting as a company spokesperson when needed to represent Ore Energy to the press, at trade shows, and in public forums.
Collaboration with Public Policy & Government Relations: Work closely with the public policy and government relations team to align communication efforts with regulatory and legislative priorities, developing high-quality communication materials to support policy advocacy and government outreach initiatives.
Your profile
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience: 7-10 years of experience in communications, PR, or journalism roles, ideally within advanced technology, deep tech, energy, or fast-paced startup environments.
Project Delivery: Proven track record of leading communication projects and taking full ownership of a company’s public identity from conceptual strategy through to hands-on content execution and media placement.
Methodological Expertise: Strong foundation in creating communication frameworks, managing editorial calendars, and utilizing structured tools to measure and optimize brand impact.
Vendor, Media & Event Management: Practical experience in managing media relations, securing earned media coverage, coordinating high-profile corporate events, and overseeing external creative vendors or freelancers.
Mindset: Flawless English writer, collaborative mentor, and proactive problem solver who doesn't wait for instructions, is highly comfortable leading through ambiguity, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
