The role

Company Overview

Ore Energy is on a mission to fundamentally expand the amount of energy society can reliably harness and use, helping move civilization toward a more abundant energy future. We are doing this by developing long-duration, utility-scale iron-air batteries that provide safe, low-cost, multi-day energy storage for electricity grids and data centers. Our technology is designed to enable renewable power to become a dependable source of energy at scale, supporting the transition to a cleaner, more resilient and more electrified world.

Ore Energy has built significant momentum toward commercial deployment. The company has raised a significant amount of investment from leading European investors, demonstrated its technology under real-world utility conditions, and is now moving toward large-scale commercial deployments..

Data centers are a key focus area for Ore Energy. As data center electricity demand accelerates and grid connection timelines become a major constraint on growth, Ore Energy’s iron-air batteries offer a uniquely compelling solution: powering data centers with locally developed renewable energy, firmed over multi-day periods, instead of waiting for grid expansion or relying on fossil-based power. This makes our batteries one of the fastest, most cost-effective and scalable routes to bringing new data center capacity online while meeting sustainability and resilience requirements.

In this role, you will build strategic relationships with hyperscalers, colocation providers and data center developers, positioning Ore Energy’s iron-air batteries as a key solution for baseload power, renewable energy firming, grid-constrained growth and long-duration backup.

Role overview

As Head of Data Center Commercial Development, you will lead Ore Energy’s commercial activities in the data center segment. You will identify and develop high-value opportunities, build a qualified pipeline, convert customer interests into pilots and commercial contracts, and help shape Ore Energy’s strategy for one of its most important target markets.

You will be part of the commercial team, reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). In this role, you will work cross-functionally with product, engineering and project development teams to translate customer needs into bankable commercial propositions. This is a senior, customer facing role for someone who understands the data center ecosystem, energy procurement, infrastructure sales and long-cycle enterprise business development.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and own Ore Energy’s data center commercial pipeline, with a focus on hyperscalers, colocation providers, data center campus developers and energy-intensive digital infrastructure customers.

  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers across data center energy, sustainability, infrastructure, procurement, strategy and development teams.

  • Identify priority customers, use cases and geographies where long-duration iron-air storage can solve critical data center challenges, including grid connection delays, renewable energy firming, power availability, backup power, diesel displacement and baseload supply from renewables.

  • Convert commercial conversations into qualified opportunities, pilot projects, letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, framework agreements and binding offtake or deployment contracts.

  • Develop tailored business cases for customers, including renewable baseload supply, co-location with wind and solar assets, grid-constrained data center growth, behind-the-meter storage and long-duration backup.

  • Work with the technical team to define customer requirements, system configurations, performance assumptions, project scope, delivery timelines and integration needs.

  • Collaborate with utilities, renewable developers, EPCs, infrastructure investors and grid stakeholders to develop complete commercial solutions for data center customers.

  • Support pricing, contract structuring and commercial negotiations, including milestone payments, delivery terms, warranties, performance commitments and project risk allocation.

  • Represent Ore Energy at industry events, data center conferences, customer meetings and strategic partnership discussions.

  • Provide market intelligence on data center power demand, energy procurement trends, grid bottlenecks, backup power requirements, competitive technologies and customer buying behaviour.

Ideal profile

  • You have significant experience in business development, strategic sales, partnerships or commercial leadership within data centers, energy infrastructure, renewable energy, power systems, storage, grid solutions or industrial technology.

  • You understand how data center customers think about power availability, resilience, sustainability, cost of energy, grid connections, backup systems and long-term infrastructure planning.

  • You have a strong network across the data center ecosystem, ideally including hyperscalers, colocation providers, data center developers, energy procurement teams, utilities, renewable developers or infrastructure investors.

  • You are comfortable selling high-impact infrastructure technology into complex enterprise customers with long decision cycles and multiple stakeholders.

  • You can translate technical and economic concepts into clear customer value propositions and are able to build credibility with both commercial and technical audiences.

  • You are proactive, entrepreneurial and comfortable operating in a fast-moving scale-up environment where the commercial playbook is still being built.

Your profile

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, strategic sales, commercial partnerships or market development, preferably in data centers, energy, renewables, storage, grid infrastructure or critical power systems.

  • Demonstrated experience building and converting enterprise or infrastructure sales pipelines.

  • Strong understanding of data center energy challenges, including grid capacity constraints, renewable procurement, power purchase agreements, backup power, energy resilience and sustainability targets.

  • Ability to engage senior stakeholders and manage complex commercial processes from first contact to contract negotiation.

  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, including the ability to evaluate project economics and customer value drivers.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • Fluency in English. Additional European languages, especially German, Dutch or French, are a plus.

  • Willingness to travel across the globe for customer meetings, industry events and project development activities.

Preferred experience

  • Experience working directly with hyperscalers, colocation providers or large data center developers.

  • Background in energy storage, renewable energy project development, power purchase agreements, grid services, backup power or critical infrastructure.

  • Experience with long-duration energy storage, battery systems, diesel replacement, microgrids or behind-the-meter energy solutions.

  • Understanding of data center power architecture, UPS systems, backup generation, grid interconnection constraints and renewable energy procurement.

  • Experience negotiating LOIs, MOUs, framework agreements, offtake agreements or infrastructure project contracts.

Success in the role looks like

Within the first 3 months, you will have mapped the priority data center customers and partners across Europe, built a qualified pipeline, initiated senior-level conversations and identified the most attractive near-term pilot or commercial opportunities.

Within 12 months, you will have converted key customer relationships into formal commercial commitments, including pilot agreements, LOIs, MOUs, framework agreements or early deployment contracts.

Over time, you will build Ore Energy’s data center order book and establish the company as a leading long-duration storage partner for renewable, resilient and grid-constrained data center growth.

Why us?

Data centers are becoming one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity demand globally, but their growth is increasingly constrained by access to reliable, affordable and low-carbon power. Ore Energy is building a technology that could become essential to unlocking that growth. Our iron-air batteries are designed to store renewable energy over multi-day periods, making it possible to provide dependable clean power for energy-intensive infrastructure.

This is a rare opportunity to join a company at the moment when technology readiness, customer traction and market demand are converging. Ore Energy has already raised significant capital, built and tested its technology under real-world conditions, and is now moving toward large-scale commercial deployment. By joining the company, you will work directly with the founding team, build a strategic commercial market from the ground up, and help define how long-duration storage powers the next generation of data centers.
